Roles in SRE

The following are the 4 roles available in an On-prem SRE. A user can hold multiple roles at the discretion of data custodian. Each role can also be held by multiple persons. The roles are assigned by the SRE team following the request from the data custodian.

Researcher - Project team member, working on the data. Has access to researcher virtual machines.

Data Custodian - Person responsible for adding and managing the base dataset of a project. Can request to add/remove user accounts to the project and assign roles to accounts.

Ingress Approver - Person who reviews and approves data that a Researcher wants to upload into the environment.

Egress Approver - Person who reviews and approves data that a Researcher wants to download from the environment.
